Country Schools Music Festival

Playing our musical instruments in a band or group with a conductor and lots of students from other schools was an amazing experience for eight Darfield High School students on Friday 22nd of March. The Country Schools music Festival was held at Lincoln High School and students from Mt Hutt, Ellesmere, Rolleston, Lincoln and Darfield attended.

Approximately 100 students had a two hour rehearsal in the morning, one hour practice in the afternoon followed by a formal concert ensemble practice before the concert at 6pm. It was great to see the support given to students by all of the Darfield High School parents attending the concert.

Lucas said he couldn't wait to show his Grandfather (who plays the trombone) the video of the concert. KT said she loved meeting other students and was proud of being able to play some difficult music in a group. Roo says he was pleased to see this Country Schools Music Festival reinstated after 3 years cancelling due to covid. He thoroughly enjoyed the event.
