Kaikoura and Hanmer Springs

11Geo investigate sustainability and environment impact.

On Thursday 3 March, the amazing Mr Quinn took his Year 11 class away on a trip. We went to Kaikoura to go on a Whale watch trip, learning about the environmental impacts and the tourism impacts that these whale watch tours have. It was a once in a lifetime experience, to be able to see two different types of whales and also be able to see dolphins as well.

Then we went from Kaikoura to Hanmer Springs to learn about how the thermal pools were made, and how sustainable they use the water at Hanmer Springs. Being in Hanmer was so much fun, to be able to do some awesome team building activities at the forest camp where we were staying, to then have some free time to go to the pools, or to explore Hanmer Springs.

It was an amazing trip to be able to be with all of your friends to create some great memories, and build bigger friendships. I definitely recommend you take geography for Year 11 as it was an amazing opportunity! Thank you also to parent helper Jo who transported us there and back.
