Giving back to the community

Exhibiting the schools core values Manaakitanga, Kotahitanga, Kaitiakitanga and Rangatiratanga

Building on the successful service morning that was carried out in 2022, our Year 9 students took another opportunity earlier this week to really live and breathe our school values by participating in different projects within our community.

Split into small groups they went out into the community to complete community service. There were a number of options available for these groups to participate in. Students ventured to the community garden, skatepark, McHughs Plantation, Darfield Foodbank, Westmar, Darfield Primary School, Annabels Educare, Darfield Preschool and Nursery, the Fire Station, Tranzit Groups Buses to clean up and tidy, or read and interact in conjunction with their chosen activity. Some stayed here on site and washed staff cars and prepare for the bake sale and sausage sizzle which raised funds for the Darfield Food bank also.

DHS School Values

A lovely acknowledgement of all their efforts from Annabels Educare, "Thank you so much for visiting us today! We loved having you"
