Energy drinks - no thanks

These drinks cause problems and are banned at school including all EOTC

Please note that energy drinks are banned from DHS including all trips. These are the drinks with high caffeine, other stimulants and sugar, such as Red Bull, V, Monster etc.

Our main reason is that they lead to unfocused and often inappropriate behaviours as students experience a surge in energy (talking loudly, without consideration for others, moving around fast and rapidly changing thought processes). They are also well known to be unhealthy and most have labels saying they are not for under 16s. They lead to poor sleep which is known to be a major cause of teenage problems with attention (often misdiagnosed as ADHD).

Students with energy drinks should expect them to be confiscated and returned at the end of the day/trip if unopened.
