DHS T2 Wk4 Sport

Its been a couple of busy sporting weeks for students, who are now settled into their Winter Teams and one more week of Grading to go.

Winter Sports is now in full swing with Basketball, Hockey, Netball, Rugby and Football.  That's about 200 players making up 17 teams a week, with a handful playing in multiple teams.  Its great to see that we have so many students engaged in playing sport.

Rugby

On the 17th May our 1st XV and out U15 Rugby teams played John Paul II High School from Greymouth at DHS.  Both games were extremely close and could have gone either way but late tries to JPII sealed their victory over our teams.  1st XV loosing 28/29 and U15 loosing 27/31

On Saturday 20th of May we hosted the Miles Toyota Championship Game between the Selwyn Schools Combined 1st XV and The Christ's College 1st XV.  DHS has two Year 13 players in the teams this year, Mason Thompson and Louis Ridgen.  It was a hard fought game with both teams playing well and Christ's just staying ahead of our guys by 8/11.

A huge thank you to Jeremy, our groundsman, the field was in superb condition and held up well.

It was good to see so many spectators from both sides out supporting the teams and a great way to showcase DHS.
