Year 9 River cleanup day
I really enjoyed walking along the beach and picking up rubbish. We found a lot of interesting items of rubbish, from little bits of polystyrene to shoes, wire, car tyres and doors! We picked up a whooping 140 kgs of rubbish!
Afterward, we were rewarded with a session at the Aqualand Waterpark which was by far the best part of the trip. I really appreciate all the time and effort put into organising the whole trip.
We would like to thank the following people for their involvement in the day.
Lesley Ottey Waimakariri District Council - Director of Eco Educate .
Justin Fletcher - Educator with Eco Educate .
Simon Woods - ECAN Ranger .
Elizabeth Lovell - Waste Educator with Selwyn District Council
DHS Teachers - Mrs Clark, Ms Henshaw, Mrs Rudman, Mr Quinn, Miss Tregear, Miss Dawson, Mr Dickens and Mrs Lee.
Also special thanks to Bunnings Warehouse (Airport Branch) who kindly donated 30 High-Vis Vests.
