Reading with Sammie

Most of you will have seen Sammie around the school, but you might not know that she has been training hard for an exciting job.

Sammie is working toward becoming a Learning Support Dog, and she loves listening to the stories during her reading sessions. Having Sammie present while the students are reading helps them relax and stay focused. The programme also allowed Sammie to become comfortable with the students and build relationships with them.

These sessions last anywhere between 15-20 minutes. Students participating in this programme have gained a lot of confidence reading aloud throughout the programme and have all enjoyed having the opportunity to grow their literacy skills.
