BUSINESS MENTORS WANTED

Share your business acumen with our Young Enterprisers

The Level 2 Business Studies course currently operating is looking for volunteers to mentor our students participating in the Young Enterprise Scheme. We have a few groups who are yet to source a mentor to support them through their journey this year. The time commitment is very flexible, and the modes used for meeting and communicating with students is varied.

If you would like to contribute your business knowledge and experience, please contact Andrea James (aj@darfield.school.nz). If you would like to know more about the commitment involved, this video from the Young Enterprise Trust provides a good overview of what task ofmentoring involves.

The students go through all the stages of product design, manufacturing and marketing with a focus on innovation and sustainability. Your role may be as an advisor, a facilitator, or a motivator as you guide the students on their pathway to success. You might even be surprised by the rewards you gain yourself!

I get great satisfaction out of being a Mentor especially when I see the untainted ideas coming forward, on how or what they have, as ideas to make a successful business. As I am of an older generation it is great to see the enthusiasm and energy especially when they have come up with an idea and how they are going to make it all work and to see how they solve each problem as it arises.”
