Work Experience at Darfield Automotive.

This week we highlight another Work Experience student out in our local community.

Darfield Automotive is a long - standing automotive business based in our local community. Janelle and Macca operate the business and have welcomed several of our students over the years. Additionally, they have also been active in school activities. Macca participated in our SADD event last year, bringing a crucial focus on road safety, while Janelle assisted our senior students in improving their interview skills, through our annual "Mock Interview" event.

Jack Croy, a current year 11 student, has been participating in work experience with Macca and his colleagues since the middle of term two and is supported by Macca, who has over 25 years of industry experience.

During term one, Jack completed an Advanced Workbased First Aid Certificate offered by Life Care Consultants and a Health and Safety Certificate delivered by Safety 'N' Action, to help him prepare for work experience as part of his Pathways class.

While chatting at his work experience, Jack expressed how much he enjoys the variety of his tasks (including replacing a window wiper motor), learning new skills, gaining knowledge and working with people who are extremely supportive of him.

Jack acknowledged that his work experience will serve him well in his future plans, of becoming a mechanic.

We are very grateful to Darfield Automotive for providing this invaluable opportunity and we look forward to following up with Macca and Jack again, later in the year.
