Arrowtown History Trip

I am writing this while in the van on the way home reflecting on the past four days. What a wonderful time we have had. Starting on Sunday, we left school at 8.30am to start the six hour drive to get to where we were staying at Lakeland Christian camp, just outside Queenstown. On the way we stopped at Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki and Cromwell. In Cromwell we went on a historical walk at Bannockburn. We arrived in Queenstown at 5.30pm on Sunday night.

On Monday morning we went to the Arrowtown museum to do some research and had a tour of all the historically important places in Arrowtown in the afternoon. On Tuesday we went to the museum again in the morning, and then went jet boating at Skippers canyon in the afternoon. The road into skippers had some spectacular views while also being terrifying at times. After jet boating we got to try our luck gold panning and a few of us managed to get flecks of gold. On Tuesday night we got to spend time in Queenstown. Some of us went on the Gondola and Luge and some of us just walked around Queenstown.

On Wednesday we packed up in the morning and left at 9.30am arriving home at 4.30pm. Some highlights of the trip were jet boating, gold panning, spending time in Queenstown and playing mafia at night. Overall it was a great trip with a great group of people and we all agreed we would do it all over again next week if we could. Thank you to Lakeland Christian camp for letting us stay, thank you to our parents for supplying food and a big thank you to Mrs Lee and Miss Tregear for all their hard work organising the trip and taking us down there.
