Tracey Perkins

Introducing ... Tracey Perkins, President, Darfield High School PTSA

"Kia ora koutou,

Our family are local farmers and we have three children, one each attending Darfield High School, Darfield Primary School and Darfield Preschool. I work for New Zealand Landcare Trust focusing on sustainable land use management and do voluntary work with our high school through the Ministry of Primary Industries Secondary School Employer Partnerships (MPI SSEP) programme. My partner, Jonny Hamilton, is a volunteer with the Kirwee Fire Brigade and oversees a group of family farms here in Selwyn.

I’m excited to be involved with the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) of our high school and have a passion for ensuring that every child in our town has as many opportunities as we can give them. These opportunities act as a solid foundation on which to continue their education, a place to build a resilient network of social connections, and create a strong next generation of employers, employees and citizens. This year, the vision of the PTSA is going to be to establish those opportunities, determine a game plan and secure the funds needed to give our students these opportunities. Anybody who has questions about being involved with the PTSA is welcome to contact me to hear more about the work we are doing or just come along to one of our meetings."
