Malvern Lions - Great Barrier Island Hillary Outdoor Scholarship

Over the years Malvern Lions have been able to offer a range of both academic and recreational scholarships, and grants, to students from Darfield High School. The last 4 years we have sponsored up to 3 students to The Hillary Outdoors Great Barrier Island April school holiday programme. We are wanting to sponsor up to 3 more students to attend this course -dates are April 2024 (School Holidays).

We would like to offer the opportunity for current 2023 Year 10 students to apply for a scholarship, to attend what looks to be a great adventure and beneficial experience, all to take place in April 2024.

The students we would like to send are not necessarily the outstanding leaders, or very academic, but more the quiet achievers who show good schoolwork ethic, community /volunteer service, sporting and arts/music attributes. They would also have the potential to step up as leaders who would benefit with a boost in self-esteem, and experience activities in this wonderfully supported environment. These would help them as they progress through their schooling, and in later life.

In order to apply for this scholarship, we require the students to submit their names and a CV, plus a covering letter, outlining why they wish to attend this course, and how it would benefit them. These CVs should be returned to the Year 10 Dean, as well as Malvern Lions at secretarymalvernlions@gmail.com

Please note - airfares and course costs are all covered by the Malvern Lions. These would be arranged in advance.

Malvern Lions reserves right to alter or delay, based on factors out of their control.

All candidates will be interviewed prior to selection, with an announcement at 2023 Prizegiving.
