Work Experience at Bridgestone Tyre Centre, Darfield

Bridgestone Tyre Centre is a long - standing business based in our local community. They are the local specialist in tyres, batteries and wheel alignments and stock a full range of car, 4WD, Truck and Tractor tyres. Over the years, the company has welcomed several of our students for work experience.

Mathew, a current year 11 student, has been participating in work experience under the guidance of Ross and other colleagues, since the middle of term three and is also supported by Peter, who has over 30 years of industry experience.

While chatting at his work experience, Mathew expressed how much he enjoys the variety of his tasks that he has been undertaking, these have included removing wheels from vehicles, fitting new tyres and balancing and fitting wheels back on vehicles. Along with this, Mathew is using the hoist to left vehicles and learning the positions of where to lift the vehicles to, he is learning how to repair punctures on a variety of tyres, assisting with wheel alignments and rotating wheels on vehicles to get the optimum wear out of them. Mathew is enjoying learning new skills, gaining knowledge and working with people who are extremely supportive of him.

Mathew acknowledged that his work experience will serve him well in his future plan of working within this industry.
