Christchurch Schools Music Festival

Briar represented DHS in the Senior Representative Choir at the Christchurch Schools Music Festival at Christchurch Town Hall last week

This year I was selected to be a member of the Senior Representative Choir. At the beginning of the year I auditioned to be a member of the Senior Choir for the Christchurch School Music Festival. I had to sing the National Anthem and sing up and down a scale. About a month later I got an email saying that I have a place in the Senior Choir, I was really happy. After that on most Saturdays I had rehearsals at Avonhead school learning all the pieces word for word. In the term of 3 holidays I had a 3 day program so the Senior Choir could learn 3 pieces that the other choirs don't learn.

Then the performance week came around, there was a full day of rehearsals on Monday, a half day on Tuesday and the 4 performances from Tuesday to Friday. I had to attend all 4 nights because I was in one of the Representative groups. It was a great experience, I enjoyed seeing all the different schools each night and watching the other Representative groups perform their 3 pieces. I am definitely going to audition again next year and I hope that I get in again!
