DHS Sports Report T2 Wk 1

Our athletes were out and about during the holidays achieving some great results.

Selwyn Combined 1st XV

Mason Thompson and Louis Ridgen were recently named in the Selwyn Combined Rugby 1st XV team, congratulations lads.  There we about 45 players in this years training squad.   Etienne Bourhill also trialled for the first time but unfortunately wasn't named in the team, we look to seeing his name in the 2024 team.

Mason and Louis, are currently both Year 13 students, Mason one of our head students and Louis one of our Head or Sports Leaders are awesome role models to our Students.  Both put so much back in Rugby, with taking on the coaching role for our U15 team last year and this year coaching both our 1st XV and U15 teams as well as fitting in their own, full on, training and playing schedules with the Combined Team.  Truly dedicated and inspirational Leaders!

This year we are privileged to host the Teams first home game, on May 20th against Christ College, kick off is at 2.45pm - come and support the team!

Ryan Booth - NZ Junior Team

Ryan continues his journey with shooting, achieving top results in all his events and now has just been named in the New Zealand 50m Rifle Team to compete in South Korea in July.  Congratulations Ryan, we wish you all the best.

Tia Miller - Riding Success

Tia has been competing in the North Canterbury Dressage Series with some great results - ultimately winning the Overall U16 Championship Title with her horse Gold - well deserved Tia - Congratulations.

Rachel McKenzie - Ultimate Frisbee

Rachel was invited by Canterbury Ultimate Frisbee to take part in the NZ Youth Ultimate Champs in Cambridge over the holidays, Rachel one of 6 girls from Canterbury to go.  An honour to be asked but a great experience.  From this tournament a Junior NZ will be named, our fingers are crossed!

Kaikoura Adventure Race

What a weekend - 21 students, 8 teams and a heap of supporters.  Well done everyone.

We are delighted to see a good number of Students taking part and having a go at Multisports - this is one of the fastest growing sports at the moment.  Interest is steadily growing within the school, thanks to Lexi Sinclair Dockerill and our 2023 Coast to Coast team of Isla, Jared and Oscar.
