Full Bellies - and happy bellies!

On Tuesday 7IC did some baking for the organisation Full Bellies as part of their William Pike Community Service

On 1 August, my class 7IC all brought in some yummy ingredients so we could do some baking. We all got to school, patiently waiting for period 2 to start. As soon as PE was finished, we were all eager to rush to the food tech room to start our spectacular baking journey. Lining up outside the delicious smelling building, we were all finally set free into the baking room. We chucked on our odd looking aprons and rushed onto our set benches. During this wonderful experience, we had two parents, Ruth and Aoife. They were the most spectacular helpers. They were so easy to talk to and they gave the most amazing, easy to understand help. At the end of everything, we all observed everybody's hard work. After the 2 ½ hours of work, we put all the food onto trays, ready to be sent around the country to children in need. Faye Williams

On the first of August, our class, 7IC, all brought our ingredients into class, all eagerly waiting for period 2 to start. Helping Mrs C carry the ingredients to the food tech room we were all chattering excitedly. Lining up we were set free into the food tech room, we rushed to our set stools and focused on the teachers ready to begin our day. We said our welcomes to the wonderful helpers, Ruth and Aoife, and our teachers, Mrs C and Mrs B. We chucked our aprons on, washed our hands and got started. Three groups were making batches of mouth watering biscuits, two groups of muffins and one group of flapjacks. Our wonderful helpers helped along the way and helped us finish them off. As we finished off, it was unbelievably hard to not eat them all. We took our class photo and it was time to go. After the 2 1⁄2 hours of work, it was worth it. Our baking is being donated to the organisation 'Full Bellies' that provides over 3, 000 students in NZ with lunches. Emma Allan
