School Day at Word Festival

The word that best describes this event is wow! ka mau te wehi! From slam poets to planetary astronomers, from film producers to climate justice advocates, DHS students had this unique opportunity to hear from writers from diverse backgrounds and interests.

Did you know that on Tuesday 27 September, NASA is trialing it's first Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART)?  This involves nudging a small asteroid moon to see if they can change it's orbit.  If successful this technique may be used to prevent small asteroids striking earth.  Michele Bannister, researcher and science communicator was just one of eight amazing presenters at Canterbury University.

Thanks to Word Festival organisers and the University of Canterbury for their sponsorship.
