Rural College Ag Expo

Join us for our first Ag Expo on Friday 5th April 2024

We are lucky to have two Agricultural College Programmes on offer at Darifed High School.  Our own Rural College Program for Year 9-13 Students and the Tawera Rural College, supported by the PITO.

Our School Rural College Programme puts through over 200 students a year, with a mix of skills and academic pathways for our NCEA students.

We are now starting the 2nd year of the Tawera Rural Programme with a new intake of 18, year 11 students this year for Year 1 and last years intake of 20 students, now in their 2nd year.  This programme runs every Friday and brings in students from Haeata Community College and Rolleston College.

The aim of our Rural College Programmes is to help teach and upskill our students so that they have either an academic or a work ready pathway.

Students from Year 11, who are sitting any NCEA Level are required to complete at least a weeks work experience and well as attend practical on farm days.

The purpose of the Ag Expo and inviting local businesses, organisations and farmers to exhibit is to give our students an insight into the extensive network that supports the agricutural sector and possibly tweak their interest in areas that they may not have considered.
