'Our Ōtautahi'

This was a student run day that grew understanding around turangawaewae, belonging. This was inspired by a charity started after the Christchurch mosques attacks to action compassion, Mahi te Aroha. Students from schools all around Christchurch were invited to this event which was so cool to be able to interact with many other like minded students. We got into small groups to have deep and meaningful discussions around what it means to belong. 

We talked about people's different perspectives and how these impact others. It was a really eye opening experience hearing many other students stories and opinions and allowed me to learn so much more about well-being and turangawaewae in itself. This experience pushed me out of my comfort zone and I learned so much about myself and others through this. I loved meeting the new people during this day as well. The students from St Andrews and Hillmorton High School did a great job of organising such a great student hui and thank you to Mr Forward for giving us this opportunity.
