Clash of the Colleges

Last Wednesday we joined 34 other schools from around Canterbury for the inaugural Clash of the Colleges at the NZ Agricultural Show. Our team of Dustin, Josh, Jade, Lucas and Tom enthusiastically took on the challenges. We had to complete 15 activities and 5 minutes to complete them. Points were awarded out of 5. We had lots of fun and entertainment (especially us as spectators). The team completed a variety of activities from knot tying to grading sheep, identifying wool, native trees, small farm equipment, gumboot (Dustin you need to practice this basic skill) and egg throwing, AI'ing a cow (now that was interesting for our sheep farmers.....). But they nailed the putting together a hand piece. The hardest and most physical challenge was four in a wool sack and working together to maneuver it a few metres there and back. All in all a great day in a sweltering 26 degrees. Well done to the team! We know look forward to next years events and challenges.
