Waimakariri District Council Welcoming Communities Programme
Waimakariri District Council is proud to join 35 other councils to be part of Welcoming Communities. This is a programme led by Immigration New Zealand that supports newcomers to feel included and have a sense of belonging in the economic, civic, cultural and social life of their new community. Our district is growing rapidly with 1,600 new people moving here every year from outside the district, across New Zealand and overseas. We want everyone to feel welcome here and create a diverse and vibrant Waimakariri.
Waimakariri District Council wants to hear from as many newcomers as possible, so we get an idea of what things we can do better to meet the needs of people arriving to our District.
Follow the link to their Welcoming Communities survey:

The survey can be anonymous, and the answers they receive will inform a Welcoming Plan that they are developing for Waimakariri.
Welcome bags
Council also distributes welcome bags to newcomers, and these are available at each of our service centres in Rangiora, Kaiapoi and Oxford.
