Last term on Friday 9th April North Canterbury Sports Association held a ‘Girl’s Rugby - Have a Go Day’ for girls in Years 5 to 8 girls at Southbrook Park.

There were over 80 girls across North Canterbury who participated in the event. Most of the girls that came to the event had no experience in rugby, so they were feeling nervous when they arrived.

The activities involved warm ups for passing and stretching to avoid injury. We enjoyed the game the most where we were able to tackle and try to score for our team. Our teams were mixed between many schools and this gave us a great chance to interact with and meet new people who we look forward to seeing at high school.

Overall we feel our tackling skills are ready for the Black Ferns, well, maybe in a few years!
