Exciting EOTC Events in Term 4!

Learning —

Education outside the classroom is an important part of the learning that takes place at our kura. Term 4 is shaping up to be epic for everyone!

Planning for day trips and FOUR camps is underway for Term 4!

We are striving to build an Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) programme that will support our learners to develop a range of skills, knowledge and attitudes through a variety of experiences.

Since opening in 2021 we've already had a range of EOTC activities, including:

  • Lake Alta hikes

  • Turangawaewae trips around our area

  • Junior trips into Queenstown

  • Trips to the Arrowtown museum

  • Events like EPro8 and the Literacy Quiz

  • Visiting the Winter Olympics Fanzone in Wanaka

  • Borland Lodge Camp

  • National Young Leaders Day

  • Cecil Peak Station Camp

  • Trapping around Hanleys Farm

.... and more!

So, what is EOTC?

EOTC is curriculum-based teaching and learning that extends the four walls of the classroom.

Why is it important?

"It’s recognised learning both inside and outside school encourages young people to be capable and knowledgeable citizens, who are involved with the communities they live in. EOTC enables every young person to be able to participate in learning beyond the classroom, whatever their age, ability, or circumstances.” - EOTC Guidelines for Schools

“EOTC programmes provide students with access to hands-on experiences that are not available inside the classroom. They offer unique and stimulating learning opportunities that support your child’s learning and achievement.” -

Alongside the day trips that happen throughout the year, we have designed a series of camps that will expose our learners to different experiences and challenge them in different ways!

Our overnight camps are designed to be progressive, some camping in tents, some in cabins and even one in our capital city - Wellington!

Take a look at the camps we have planned for this year!

If you have any concerns at any time please feel free to contact your child's classroom teacher or the team leaders.
