Supporting our Friend Meila 🩷

Whanaungatanga —

As most of you will be aware, one of our awesome learners, Meila Davis, has been facing a journey with cancer for most of the last year.

Meila has been accepted on a phase 1 CAR-T cell therapy trial in America. Her family will look to go over in July, for the first phase of this potentially life-saving treatment and will then return several weeks later and remain in America for several more weeks.

Unfortunately, NZ doesn't cover the cost of this life-saving treatment so it will be completely self-funded. Estimated costs are $90,000 USD, ($150,000 NZD) plus travel and accommodation.

Meila’s whānau have already begun a GoFundMe page where people can make donations to support this treatment. Any contribution is much appreciated. Please feel free to share widely. You can find the page here.

They are also holding a very special event, a black tie ball themed, ā€˜Shine Bright Like a Diamond’, on August the 3rd. There will be an auction at this event and they would love to hear from anyone who is able to contribute an item to be auctioned off. Tickets for this event are $200 which includes bubbles on arrival, wine on the table, a three-course meal, entertainment and a dance floor to boogie down on!

If you would like to donate an item for auction please email Kristin (Meila's mum), kristin@handkproperty.co.nz

Thank you all so much for your ongoing support and aroha for Meila and her whānau.
