My name is Loren Kennedy and I have been the Design Technology teacher at Te Oraka Shirley Intermediate for 2 years.
I have 7 years classroom teaching experience in classrooms and 4 years experience as a technology teacher. Our students at Te Oraka learn best when doing so I plan to give them a lot of opportunities to create and work through the design process as opposed to "sitting in front of a screen."
Design Technology was called Digital Technology previously however, I believe taking a "Design" approach will be more fun and enriching for students.
This term Manaakitanga/connection/Identity/ form the basis of our design project and students will explore this as a springboard for their creation.
