Year 7 students are learning to use the key words and phrases used in design technology.

In design technology / whakaahua hangarau, there are stages for every design.  For every stage, students need to use the right words so they can talk about their learning.

This term, they are creating an "Ugly Doll" or in other words aa stuffed toy or doll that is special and unique to them.

For instance, ākonga in the photo above have their names in the step they are doing.  In Ugly Doll Construction, ākonga know that they need to cut out their pattern pieces in felt and learn the hand stitch called Running Stitch. There are video tutorials on Hapara Student Dashboard to help them.

Students also help each other learn their next step and there is a poster display that tells them what to do in each step.
