Canterbury Intermediate and Middle Schools (CAIMS) Trip to Auckland

As you are reading this, I will be in Auckland with other intermediate principals from Canterbury. We are visiting a number of schools in Auckland. These are great opportunities to see new initiatives, programmes, and ideas in action. 

Elgregoe the Magician - Friday 15th March

Greg and Sue Britt have been performing shows at schools for many years now. This is their final year so we are excited we have been able to book them in. 

Their final show includes the best of “You’ve Got The Power" which is full of amazing content and great life skill messages. There is no cost to parents as we believe the life messages are very powerful and align with the NZ curriculum.   

Paid Teacher Union Meetings

You would have received a notice via Hero informing you of the paid teacher union meetings happening next Tuesday 19th March, from 1.30pm - 2.30pm at Haeata Community Campus. 

We ask that you make alternative arrangements for your child for the afternoon. Ākonga will be dismissed after they have had their lunch between 12:30 - 12:40pm. We have a very small number of staff who will remain onsite to supervise ākonga who need to stay at school.

Please advise the office if your child is requiring supervision for the afternoon. This will inform us of total numbers. Thank you for your support with this. 

Learning bases - building waka/boats

The photo above is of Room 4 students and the waka they have made. Great work, team! Learning bases across the school have been working on these. There is also an article about Room 1's boat building challenge, go check it out. 

There is a photo below of students sharing their procedural writing with me. They explained the steps I had to take to make a peanut butter and jam sandwich. My eyes happen to be shut but I can assure you I am not sleeping :)
