Rain, Hail or Shine
Y3-4 Blue Sticks shine in the rain on Saturday morning.
Te Puna blue sticks had their first game on the weekend against Bethlehem Primary. The weather was absolutely atrocious with heavy rain for most of the game, yet the girls had incredible spirit and such positive attitudes! For many of the players it was their first time playing a proper game of hockey. We were super impressed with how they played and everyone showed huge potential. Chloe Pinkerton had some amazing runs up the sideline and together with Isabella Baardsen, managed to score a textbook goal! Lauren McConnochie, was impressive on attack and defence and controlled the game really well. At halftime McKenzie Kerr was given some pointers to work on trapping the ball and to look for a player to pass to before trying to offload it. She worked really hard to try to achieve this in the second half...and for that reason was given player of the day. There is a lot we can improve on, but overall we are so excited to see what this team can achieve! Bring on the season!!!
