STEM -Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
We are excited to be hosting the STEMwana with our Yr 5-8 team THIS week!
STEM in the Community is a two-day activation, bringing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) directly to select schools through hands-on activities and with the support of a professional team. What's involved?
- A FREE exclusive programme for schools to participate in.
- Delivered on-site.
- Held over two days.
- Programme has been designed for students in years 5 to 8.
- We will engage with approximately 90-120 students divided in 3 groups.
- Each group will participate in 2 sessions of 1.5h each over Thursday and Friday.
- On Friday afternoon we will host an Open Day celebration inviting whānau, families and the community to discover what the students have been working on.
- Entertainment and kai provided.
STEM Wana’s purpose is to promote awareness of opportunities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to young people through community events, collaborations and meaningful partnerships.
There is a global shortage of people entering STEM study which will ultimately result in a shortage of problem solvers we need for the next generation. We also want to ensure diversity in STEM by encouraging and cultivating talent and promoting the full inclusion of excellence across the social spectrum in Aotearoa.
