Google Classroom - What's that?
Google Classroom is a web service, developed by Google for schools, that aims to simplify creating, distributing, and marking assignments in a paperless way. The primary purpose of Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students
Each teacher operates a Google Classroom - and each student is assigned to their class. Some of our older students, particularly, may have experienced this before. For our younger students, this is new territory and some adult support in reading the instructions and replying may be required.
We are aware of this and will differentiate the use of Google Classroom accordingly and review, particularly for the juniors as we go.
When a teacher sets a task, say a prescribed reading and a response document, the children in the class will receive an email with the link to the work and some instructions for completion.
When the task is complete, the student 'hands it in' and the teacher is able to track, mark and/or provide feedback about it. This happens in either a STREAM on the G-Class page (similar to facebook stream) or via the child's GMail account.
It is all secure and private. None of this is available or accessible to the worldwide web.
