Our Library is Open again.
10 500 books to read at our fingertips.
Yes - 10 500 - this is how many books are in our library collection. No excuses for 'I can't find anything to read' anymore.
Tracey Spearman dedicated hours of time during the holidays setting up our library again. It looks amazing. Thank you Tracey.
The library is now situated in Room 16 - where the juniors were based last year - near the hall.
Over the years we have built up an impressive selection of:
- picture books
- sophisticated picture books
- young adult fiction
- red dot books - simple chapter books
- Te reo books
- graphic novels
- dyslexic friendly texts
- and a huge range of non fiction texts
Check in with your child's teacher re which is their library day.
Your child may bring home a book that they can't yet read - this is a perfect opportunity for you to read together.
The benefits of reading to children include helping them build language skills, learn about the world, and develop empathy and emotional awareness. Reading together also provides an opportunity for parents and children to connect.
If you are wanting any ideas of some good books to read to your children please ask your child’s teacher. I have also linked a list of books that the National Library considers our best children’s and young adults books for 2023.
