Art Exhibition / Grower Direct

Steph McGregor —

For the recent Art Exhibition Te Puna School borrowed over 100 plants from our friendly neighbours in Borrell Rd, Grower Direct. The plants lent a lovely ambience to the display. They softened the transition between class presentations and gave off a natural green softness that enhanced the art. See the picture of the art work from Rm 5 with the blue flowering flax Dianella underneath. Debbie and Paul Heyworth have been our neighbours since 2011 and are very proud of the fact that 95% of their stock is grown by themselves! Vegetables are a huge part of their business, and they are happy to try and get in lines of stock that you may not find there. Their team of 10 staff are also very happy to answer the many questions customers have about their gardening chores and woes. Giving advice adds greatly to their job satisfaction. The garden centre covers 5 acres and as well as a great range of plants it also a includes a large range of pots which come from Vietnam. Many thanks to Debbie and Paul for the loan of the greenery especially on the eve of Labour Weekend...which is of course the traditional start of our spring gardening chores.
