Rooms 11 & 12 had the opportunity to listen to Ruud Kleinpaste - the bug man at the Garden and Arts Festival Hub at the Tauranga Racecourse last week.

He spoke about 'Who is who in the Garden' - the four P's - Pollinators, Pests, Predators and Parasites.

The children were engrossed in his message and were fascinated by the Tree Weta's he bought along. Some very lucky brave children had the chance to interact with his bugs too.

Ruud Kleinpaste visited our garden on Saturday and raved about our students. He wanted me to know how genuinely impressed he was with our students and teachers. He was impressed that the children had a really good grounding in science and that they were engaging enthusiastically and connecting with / making sense of his content in a way that is extremely rare for him to see in children of that age. They clearly had content knowledge that supported them well in this setting.

What a lovely thing to hear - and I must pass this on to the House of Science, whose materials we make great use of.
