Social Distancing- with children?

Neil Towersey —

We cannot guarantee a foolproof plan to manage social distancing - but we certainly will try!

We are working through protocols that will enable us to keep children as 'separate' as possible in the coming weeks. We have been asked to minimise the opportunities for children to 'touch or breathe on each other' (- avoiding the moist breath zone). There is no doubt that this will be a challenge for us as we get back to school but there are a number of things that we can do to try to achieve this.

Cough and sneeze etiquette along with regular hand washing and sanitisation, as with pre-lockdown will help.

Elimination of contact games, extra spacing in class, restricting mat time, no assemblies /singing indoors and the like will all play a part - but by far and away the most effective measure will be reminding children to give each other space. This is a message that we would like you to start drilling from home now. Please give your child a very clear understanding of this and really drum home the message that we are not touching one another and we are most certainly not sharing drinks or food.

Staff will be exercising social distancing rules and will be slightly adapting classroom setup and practices to suit.

Parents of children who put others at risk, by not following these guidelines, will be asked to collect their child from school immediately. This is a public health measure and will be taken very seriously. Please discuss this with your child also.
