Tauranga Primary Schools' Music Festival
On Monday the 4th September 2023, our school choir performed, along with five other schools, at Baycourt Theatre.
Our choir teachers, Ms Shilling and Mrs Fulton, said we were fabulous and that we made them very proud.
The theme was The Muppets, and we sang lots of songs from the show.
Teao Hayes sang a beautiful solo piece in “I Love Trash”.
Zanthe and Lucy choreographed and performed a fantastic tap routine in the song “Rubber Duckie”.
Thank you to all the parents and teachers who supported us during the practices and at the show.
Thoughts from some of the Choir members:
On Monday night we had the choir performance at Baycourt. We were all dressed up colourful and floral. When we had to go onto the benches on the stage, everyone from Te Puna freaked out because straight away the music was playing and we all realised we were on the stage about to sing!
My heart was beating so fast with horror because all the pressure was on. I was standing on the stage ready to sing and suddenly I felt terrified, I was in the front row! I looked out at the audience and spotted Mum and Dad, they were smiling and waving at me. My stomach had butterflies.

On the night of the show I was soooo excited!!!
I couldn't wait. When I was on the stage I could see my dad and my brother in the light. They were smiling at me and I felt amazing. It was so much fun singing The Muppet Show songs.

There was a crazy lady named Mrs Marsden. She had her hair down and it was dyed blond. She was wearing black pants and black shoes that had a gold “G” on the top . She had a nice black shirt on, but it had a small stain down the front of it. She was funny. She came in spinning and she waved excitedly out at the audience. At the end she spun around and bowed, it was a bit weird. Some people tried not to laugh but it was funny. Other people did laugh. I told people to stop laughing, and some people did and some people didn't. She was one of the funniest people I have ever met. She was our stage manager and she was really good at her job.

I was standing on stage waiting for the music to turn on. I felt a big long line of nerves shiver down my back. But I didn't show it because I was in the front row! When the music turned on and everyone started singing and smiling, it felt great.
When we sat on the benches I was in the 2nd row. I was next to Trish and Indie. I loved singing the muppet songs. I wish we could do it again

On Monday it was our choir performance at Baycourt. The Te Puna School Choir was performing on stage and I was one of them! I was excited and nervous at the same time, but mostly excited. My favourite part was “Manamana” because Mr Hantler came out and sang the Manamana part with a tutu on his head and a big banana in his hand. He also sang really funny, so funny that I don't know how to explain it, he was really funny! I wish I could show you a video….
