Rita Angus Art Review

Kylie Chambers —

In the senior school we are learning to write a variety of text styles. Here is a piece comparing the same scene depicted in a painting and a photo.

Rita Angus painted the Cass train station. She painted it very similar to the real landscape but used her artistic licence to balance her art piece. Rita Angus still kept the focus on the train station. Rita gave it symmetry and added clouds that may have not been there before, to fill up the space a bit more. She incorporated colours that were both natural but real. I like how she has the house and the man in the painting which is similar to the photo taken 50 years later. The painting looks prettier with the wood out front and all the hills. Overall I think her painting is bomb.
