TriSassy Sand to Surf

Alexia Skipper-Jones —

On Sunday morning our Y6-8 girls walked/ran 5km along the beach, around Mauao, and across the finish line to be awarded with a finishers medal.

Congratulations to our girls for their efforts on Sunday which turned out to be a cloudless, hot morning.

11 of our 15 girls were able to attend, with a total of 37 girls from schools across the WBOP.

TriSassy is an awesome program about empowering young kotiro to be active through fun sport and fitness based sessions in a supportive environment. As well as learning real-life skills, such as self awareness, healthy living, individual goal setting, time management, perseverance and determination.

The Tauranga city to surf event was cancelled due to Covid, which the girls had been working towards the 5km surf to sand event.

Kathy Miller, the TriSassy coordinator decided to go ahead with the 5km event for the girls, showering them in sponsored T.Shirts, hoodies, bags, drink bottles and City to surf finishers medals.

Thank you Kathy, sponsors and Te Puna whānau for supporting our girls to attend the event.
