New Adult Community Education classes in term 2

Ben Gresham —

This term at Hagley College we have a number of new ACE (Adult Community Education) classes starting for refugee and migrants over 16 years old.

Some classes are short courses and some will run the whole term. The days and times for our ACE classes have also changed.

On Mondays from 1:15 -3:15pm starting on June 14 a short course on volunteering will run. This will be run at our Edgeware campus.

On Tuesdays from 4-6pm we have a sewing class and also a beginners computing class.

On Wednesdays from 3-5pm we have a learner’s driving class (theory) and a Barista (coffee making) short course will run for 3 sessions. A short course on preparing for employment will begin on June 9 once the Barista course has finished.

On Thursdays from 4-6pm we have our women’s cooking class and an ESOL conversations class.

Hagley’s Multi Ethnic homework and study support centre for primary and secondary aged refugee background students runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6pm. Parents attending the ACE courses on Tuesday and Thursday evenings can enrol their children in the study and homework support.

All of these programmes are free but spaces are limited and enrolment is essential. Some eligibility conditions apply. For more information about our ACE programmes, to check if you eligible or if available spaces please contact isabelle.wagmi@staff.hagley.school.nz or phone 03 379 1916.
