Subject Selection for 2023

2023 Subject Selection for students currently in Years 10, 11, 12 and returning Year 13s is starting this week.

Students should discuss career and learning pathways prior to submitting their subject selections which must be done by 4:00pm, Friday 9th September 2022.

Students are encouraged to discuss their subject selection with the following people:

  • Parents/Caregivers
  • Subject Teachers &/or HoLA
  • Year Advisers
  • Careers Adviser
  • The upcoming Meet the Teacher evening will be a good chance to discuss this.

All subject selections for existing students must be submitted online by 4:00pm, Friday 9th September 2022.

When selecting your Subject Options and course of study, you need to consider: your interests and passions, your strengths and what you’re good at, your potential future and pathway.

Students and Caregivers can look online to see what subjects are being offered in 2023 by going to the school website: under Study Options - Senior College you will find a link (https://hagley.schoolpoint.co.nz/ )

There is a lot of information here to help with your subject selection.

You can

· look through different learning areas to see what is offered

· you can create a list of favourite courses while you are still deciding

· use the jobs search to explore what different jobs are all about

· the useful information section has lots of links to help you

Year 11 students for 2023 will choose 6 subjects and must choose English or Te Reo to cover Literacy, Mathematics to cover Numeracy, and a Science course.

Year 12 students for 2023 will choose 5.5 subjects – 5 full year subjects and one semesterised subject.

Year 13 students for 2023 will choose 5 subjects.

Pre-professional courses can also be selected in this area.
