School Library Week

Tāheke had the privilege of taking part in the inaugural Aotearoa NZ School Library Week in week 3 this term.

It was a week of celebrating all things libraries and reading. We had scavenger hunts, colouring & word finding activities, the ‘bookface’ challenge and, perhaps most excitingly, the Character in a Jar competition.

For this, students had to analyse the different elements inside four jars, and guess which characters they represented – who was ‘trapped inside’. We had 53 total entries, eight of whom guessed everything correctly, and were awarded the top prize of a book and a sweet treat!
