Hagley preschool news

Bee Williamson Assistant Director Hagley Community Preschool —

In June we had a family celebration for Matariki, the Māori New Year, at Birdlings Flat. We had some games and lots of yummy food together. We looked for special stones on the beach. Lots of fun was had by all.

Last week we had our annual end of year party. We had Loopy Tunes band come and play music and sing with us. All the children had a lovely time dancing and singing. We were presented with a wonderful piece of art created by Danielle one of the Hagley students. The painting has captured our relationship with Hagley College through the imagery of the puna wai /streams, and the diversity of our community through the national flowers. We will display this in the new preschool.

Did you know we are moving? We have started packing up the preschool to move to Simpson House. This is where the preschool will be temporarily open while the old preschool is knocked down ready for our new preschool to be put on site.

In 2021 we are planning to have a family fun day where we can all go on a bus and do something fun together. We will put out an invitation once this has been planned.

The Christmas New Year period could be a time for you to explore places around our city. We know the preschool children would enjoy visiting some of these places over the summer holidays.

Visit suggestions: New Brighton Beach, Canterbury Museum, Margaret Mahy Park, Turanga Library.
