Success Stories from HALC’s Workplace Programme
The Hagley Adult Literacy Centre (HALC) has had many successful outcomes for learners in the workplace programme recently.
This programme offers one-to-one tuition for learners who are employed and want to work on specific goals relating to their employment. The learners gain valuable skills as well as increased confidence during their time at HALC.
Lucienne was working as a swimming instructor when she first came to us. She has now secured her dream job as a librarian. A satisfying change of career for her!
Stefano was working as an Uber driver, and we are so pleased that he has recently made the move to working full time in construction.
Carole was working in the fast-food industry. Amongst other skills, Carole practised suitable conversation topics with workmates and customers and worked on interview questions and answers. Due to her new skills and confidence, she was able to achieve her preferred career as an administrator.
And lastly one of our younger learners, Rachael, who was attending HALC’s Literacy Pathways for Youth course, has recently obtained her first job. While she is working, she is continuing her studies with us on our workplace programme in order to complete her NCEA Level 1.
We are so proud of all the learners at HALC who have made positive steps in their learning and in their future lives.
