Lilly Anderson – Student Representative on the Board
Lilly Anderson is the recently elected student representative on the Board. She takes over this role from Zyon Taukamo who held the position from the end of last year and into 2022.
Lilly outlined to me when we caught up that she is very focused on enhancing the student culture at Hagley, specifically around diversity. She would like to look at ways that we can enhance this experience for our students.
She would like to be well-connected with students and is very much open to being approached by students who would like to share their thoughts and ideas with her.
Lilly has been at Te Puna Wai o Waipapa - Hagley College since Year 9 and she came to this school for many reasons, one of them being that her Mum works here. She reflected on starting here and came to the conclusion that it was an easy transition even though she came without knowing anyone. She found everyone very welcoming and lovely.
Lilly has plans... plans for her future include studying business and commerce at the University of Canterbury and she would like to become an advocate for women in business. Lilly has had a range of career interests from a flight attendant to law and has now settled on business. She has a strong interest in Music from when she was young, when she would sing and play the ukulele, and this continues now with voice lessons. Next year Lilly will be a key part of the student council so she can work alongside a group of young leaders with the goal of making our College a better place for our ākonga. We will work together to recognise students' achievement and students doing their best work.
If you would like to get in touch with Lilly about any ideas you have that would make things better for our students, please message her on Teams or email her on lilly.anderson@student.hagley.school.nz
Thanks, Lilly, for an inspiring student representative speech and for being a key member of our school Board. I look forward to working with you.
