Fono

Last week saw our final fono for this year. It was beautifully hosted by Tara Smith and Esiteri Senibulu, both students who have joined us in Year 13 this year, who reflected on what being Pasifika at Te Puna Wai o Waipapa - Hagley College has meant for them. Rowan led discussion among aiga and ākonga around the strategic direction for our kura. If any aiga weren’t able to attend fono, please follow this link to have your say in our strategic planning consultation.

It is always lovely to have the company of aiga, and it was a pleasure to also welcome Jeanette and Angie from Tu’u Mālohi, and Lindsey, Chris’s vagahau Niue (Niuean language) teacher and friend, visiting all the way from Niue.

Tu’u Mālohi

We have enjoyed getting to know Angie, Jeanette, Lotu and Jeremy over the last few weeks as we work through the Tu’u Mālohi programme. They have arranged an exciting session for us during the holidays: we will be going to Fala Eke – Tagata Moana’s Pacific Hub – on Tuesday, 26th September, to learn about and use Pacific motifs in printmaking.
