Programme of the Year 2023 – Adult Community Education Aotearoa
Adult Community Education (ACE) Aotearoa providers met in Auckland on the 14-15th June for the 2023 ACE Aotearoa conference
The purpose of the Adult Community Education (ACE) conference was to celebrate and recognise those providing high quality programmes which make a real difference to learners. The First Steps to Literacy programme run by Hagley Adult Literacy Centre was honoured to receive one of only three Tangata Tiriti awards this year. The First Steps class is for adults with neuro diverse learning challenges or those living with a specific learning difficulty. Those attending learn skills for navigating life and develop levels of independence in their day to day lives.
Learners are nurtured, respected, valued, and have a lot of fun and laughter along the way.
We are very proud of our tutor, Sarina Dickson, our volunteers, and of each of our learners who join together to create a sense of community, as well as learning to navigate life’s ups and downs in a positive way.
