Mel Morris – Presiding Member —

Firstly, we are incredibly grateful to kaiako, kaimahi, ākonga and whānau for your continued navigation of COVID.

We are impressed with the resilience shown and want to thank you for not coming to school when you have symptoms and for wearing masks when you are at school. We hope that the upcoming break will allow for rest, relaxation and self-care.

Board restructure

Due to COVID, the Ministry of Education has deferred the triennial board elections from May to September for all schools.

Our Board has enjoyed long-term Trustees, some of whom have indicated they are not available to stand again. We also accepted a resignation from Terri Gledhill who has served on the Board for many years as a parent representative. We are very grateful to Terri for her long service, energy and commitment with the additional role during the last three years as Deputy Chair.

As is practice annually in non-election years, the Board of Trustees recently agreed to adopt the principle of appointing a ‘presiding member’ (previously called chairperson) through to the election of a new Board later in the year. We are delighted to announce that Mel Morris has been appointed to that role, with Andrew Swift deputising, and Paul Ballantine chairing the Board’s Finance Committee.

We would like to thank Andrew for his leadership and commitment as Chair and continued support as Deputy Chair.

We will be in touch in due course with Election information and welcome expressions of interest.
