Hagley Dance Project
Dance Success at Hagley 2021
Hagley Dance is pleased to announce that both Laura Giffels and Tiana MacDonald are successful applicants into the Bachelor of Dance Studies Course at the University of Auckland in 2022. Both studied Year 13 (Level 3) NCEA Dance in 2019, the Hagley Dance Company in 2020 and continued with the Hagley Dance Project in 2021. We were pleased to surprise them both with scholarships to help them with the transition to tertiary studies at the Hagley Dance graduation show in October. They are both fantastic examples of the success of Hagley Dance pre-tertiary/post-secondary career pathways at Hagley.

Hagley NCEA Dance students were fortunate to celebrate a year of hard work at the annual Hagley Dance show, “In Motion” at Papa Hou/YMCA on 27th October. It has been an unusual and challenging year for all in many ways, with many shows cancelled or postponed. We were fortunate to go ahead, giving us even more reason to celebrate the students' resilience, creativity, individuality, commitment, and achievements.
Hagley Theatre Company first and second year students featured in this year’s show, with specialist guest choreography by Fleur de Thier. Hagley Dance Project and HTC had the opportunity to combine and dance together.
Congratulations and great job to the NCEA Dance students, Hagley Dance Project and Hagley Theatre Company, for their fantastic contributions to the show. They all performed wonderfully and should be proud of their achievements! Ka pai!
