Hagley Theatre Company

Lisa Allan —

Hagley Theatre Company has gotten off to a cracker start this year. We have another wonderful group of young people who have thrown themselves right into life as full-time performing arts students.

Despite the prevalent Covid-related disruptions, we have managed to deliver our first season of the year, Scene Plus! The combination of delicious platters and a variety of different scenes proved a winner, once again, with the season selling out in advance. Long-serving artistic director, Cameron Mattox, has announced that this will be the last Scene Plus under his direction - the end of an incredible era. A huge thank you to Cameron for so many great scenes, and so much great food!

The Company have an exciting second term to look forward to with two major play seasons coming up back-to-back. These are Caitriona Daly's 'Duck, Duck, Goose' and a play from Aotearoa New Zealand writer, Ralph McCubbin Howell, 'The Engine Room.' These two plays will offer the Company some great roles to deepen their training in HTC's characteristically practical programme. We look forward to sharing these with you very soon.
