Hagley Pre-Health Students

Rebecca Crowe —

Hagley Pre-Health has got off to a great start this year despite navigating multiple COVID related obstacles and other changes within the programme.

Last year, we said goodbye to Vicky Blake who had been running the course for over a decade, and welcomed the new programme leader, Registered Nurse Becca Crowe, who is also an ex-Hagley student

We have a mixture of students this year, most who want to become Registered Nurses or similar roles, but also some others who are aiming towards other careers in medicine, including doctors, and paramedics.

In Term 1, the students worked hard in their Biology, Chemistry and Nursing Knowledge classes. In the last few weeks of term, students gained knowledge and learned strategies about how to care for the elderly before they venture out to work experience in Aged Residential Care facilities.

We wish the students well for Term 2 and beyond as they put their knowledge into practice in a workplace environment.

Also a special thank you to the residential care facilities who have agreed to take our students despite ongoing COVID restrictions and forever changing policies within the health sector.
