Te Ropu Rēhia Te Puna Wai O Waipapa - is feeling the excitement of the new as spring peeks over the horizon.

Hot on the tail of our two feature seasons, Duck Duck Goose (Caitríona Daly) and The Engine Room (Ralph McCubbin Howell), our students are currently preparing for two major events on our 2022 calendar. On Friday August 26, the Company will fling open its doors, welcoming 30 students from high schools all over Canterbury into the Open Stage Studios for Hagley for a Day. This much anticipated event has become a bit of an institution over the years, and it is always such a joy to meet the creative individuals who are seriously considering making performing arts a part of their future as they spend a day slipping into the role of full-time-performing-arts-student. Many of the participants of this day go onto become Company members, forming a tight-knit ensemble, and it is the majority of our 2021 Hagley for a Day attendees that you will see on stage for our second upcoming event.

Having been selected as members of Hagley Theatre Company's 2022 ensemble, these highly imaginative, connected and hard-working performers are putting mahi aroha into a vibrant selection of scenes, dance pieces, slam poetry, physical theatre and film and even a wee scattering of original 60 second plays! We would love to share this evening with you as we showcase the incredible talent that Aotearoa New Zealand's performing arts sector has to look forward to when our students graduate.
